Four days after transferring Blastocyst #15 (I’ve decided to count down rather than up), I have to say, I’m not feeling this. Sometimes, I’ll obsessively try to symptom-spot, like, “Omg I can smell those flowers from halfway across the room — I must be pregnant!” (reality: they’re pungent flowers); or “Omg I felt a twinge on the right side of my uterus — I must be pregnant!” (reality: I’m gassy); or “Omg I just started to feel a bit dizzy and nauseous — I must be pregnant!” (reality: it’s first thing in the morning and I ate some potentially stale cheese the night before). In all honesty, nothing is going on. Not even sore tatas, which I should be feeling with all this progesterone in my system. So I’m pretty convinced, deep down, that a BFN is in my near future.
I guess what I’m wondering is: What’s the earliest I should be testing if I want 100% confirmation? I know some ladies out there start peeing on sticks at 5 or 6 days post-transfer, but those second lines are always so faint, and I really don’t want to deal with “squinters”. Just want a yes or no answer, straight-up. Should I wait until 9 days?
And yet, if I wait til then, I have a feeling my Valentine’s Day is gonna look like this:
7dp5dt. Even with my early miscarriage, I had a strong line at that time.
I started a 4dp5dt just because I had implantation spotting 3dp5dt (which was WAY early) and hot a faint BFP. I would not suggest testing that early!
Don’t think you can feel it either way! One of my fave bloggers felt out of the game at 4dp5dt and she’s pregnant!
Thinking of you!!!!!
And when you test, only use a FRER!
It’s still early for symptoms. Don’t lose hope yet. I have everything crossed for you!
I don’t know nuthin about when to test in this situation, but I have everything crossed for you, too, and really hope this is it!
Absolutely everything crossed for you!!! And from my experience, do NOT test earlier than at least 7dp/8dp5dt. I used what I thought was a super sensitive pee stick at 5dp5dt and got a big fat BFN! I was devastated! Then 110% SHOCKED when my beta came back at 60, two days later! I also had no real discernible sxs. Mostly everything I felt could have easily been construed as my normal PMS. Don’t go by sxs! Try not to pee on things just yet :) And good luck!!!!! So excited for you!!
I’m afraid I have no advice on when to test, but I can tell you that it’s SUPER early to be feeling anything, so please don’t stress about that. I didn’t have any pregnancy symptoms before I got a positive on an hpt.
Good luck, my dear! I’m hoping hard for you!
It’s way early to feel symptoms! In both my pregnancies my back hurt at about 14 days past 5 day transfer, otherwise, nada! As for testing… I peed on all the things starting at something embarrassing like 4 days after 5 day transfer.
Haha, I remember you did! And I was totally stressed on your behalf with all those crazy-faint second lines! Too much to handle. :) Good to know you (and so many others) had zero symptoms, though…
I did too… Because Belle did. Ha! I was so glad I did, thanks, Belle!
I used to roll my eyes when I would declare myself not pregnant every 10 dpo and my friend would tell me “It’s too early.” I would tell her that it was decidedly not too early and that if there was not enough hcg to be detected by a FRER, then I was not pregnant!! Imagine my surprised when, once again, I declared myself not pregnant this time (at 9 dpo, even had pricey appointment with RE at 10 dpo, discussing what new drastic measures we would be taking during the next cycle) and I got a +HPT at 11 dpo. I was so convinced that, because I got a strong + with my son at 10 dpo, there had to be some sort of discernible line at 9 dpo. It turns out this one may have just implanted a day later because the betas and doubling rates both followed the same patterns, just a day later. And so since there is no magic ball to tell you when that little blastie sees it fit to snuggle in, no one can really tell you the best time to test. I can tell you that even if you were to get a + HPT right now, you would undoubtedly question whether there was any hcg from the trigger shot remaining in your system (they say allow at least 10 days for the 10,000 IU pens and it’s been at least that long). *Most* women have a positive pregnancy test by 12 dpo/ 7dp5dt using First Response Early Result. Personally, I had strong positives at 10 dpo with my son and 11 dpo with my current pregnancy. Sorry for rambling.
7 days is a good time to start testing.
I agree, way too early to be reading the tea leaves! I ran a half marathon the day before my BFP and was in total disbelief as I felt great and turned in a decent time. I have a good feeling this cycle is going to work for you!
This made me laugh, not because of your predicament but because it reminded me of a night when I went out to dinner with some girlfriends and started having some weird cramping. I was about 10DPO (natural cycle) and convinced myself that this was it, I was finally pregnant! Then I went home and farted all night. So much for that.
The symptom spotting can drive you crazy, and there’s so many people who never have anything until much later so don’t freak yourself out! I personally hold out POASing until about a day or two before beta, just so I have some idea what I’m getting into with the blood test, but I’m also cheap and hate wasting money on tests. I still have high hopes for you!
This comment was so fabulous!
And I can attest to the fact that I had “crazy pregnancy symptoms” on most of my non-pregnant cycles but nothing at all when I was actually pregnant. Both the presence of symptoms and the lack of, are symptoms.
it is too early for symptoms! and even if you had them you would be attributing them to the shots! i plan to test at 7 dp5dt at the earliest
Dawson! You dork. ;)
There is really no way to tell lady! The lack of symptoms could be a symptom!
I think it’s gonna work for you! :)
It’s way to early to feel or smell something!!
Stay positive and test on day 8,9 or 10.
My symptoms didn’t start kicking in until late in my two week wait. I am very hopeful for you!! I would already be testing if I were you, lol. But I know that’s not for everyone :) I can’t wait. I think it’s going to be BFP!!
Hey, best of luck… we seem to be on a very close timeline here. And if I had a nickel for every time an infertile said she didn’t “feel pregnant” when she really was… I would have one nickel. But still, that’s a whole nickel. So I really hope this is it for you. Fingers crossed!
I would wait to test as long as you can. Not sure if you listen but Episode 19 of the Bitter Infertiles podcast did a great segment and when you should test.
